Did you know that a career as a registered nurse (RN) was one of the fastest-growing occupations in the United States in 2014? In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor projects that the field of registered nursing will continue to grow by 19% through 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations. This is true in every state, including Minnesota, where RNs earn an average annual salary of $88,860.

Requirements to Become an RN in Minnesota
To become an RN in Minnesota (and other states), you must graduate from an accredited nursing program. The most common entry-level RN program is an associate degree in nursing (ADN). However, some students choose to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree. Either program will prepare you for the Minnesota RN licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN.
The current requirements for taking the NCLEX-RN exam include graduating from an approved RN program, completing a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course, and passing a criminal background check.
