Requirements to Become an RN in New York
In the state of New York, you must earn at least a two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) before you can become licensed as an RN. You will also need to complete special coursework in child abuse detection and infection control. Upon graduating, you must fulfill the state's examination requirements by completing the NCLEX-RN exam. This is a two-part exam offered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and administered by Pearson VUE.
Upon completion of all of the above licensing requirements, you can apply for your RN license from the New York Office of the Professions.
